PURPLE
HEART
PROJECTS
In the language of purple flowers,
Wisteria is ‘kindness’
Gentian is ‘with you in your sorrow’
Violet is ‘love’
Iris ‘tender heart’
Stock ‘generous love’.
The concept of Purple Heart Projects and the origin of the organisation’s name is the hope that people will become aware of the colour purple when they see it on the streets, and that by saying kind words to strangers, it will lead to a chain of compassion and kindness.

Understanding others,
I want to educate people that being kind is the first step towards personal growth and healing
I had been rejecting people and being bitter, but by confessing and confronting myself as I am, I was taught by others and by confronting them with kindness, I was able to save myself.
I have come to believe that the experience of understanding and being kind to others in their own situation is the first step towards healing, and that it can help others who are suffering from something.
I want to open a café run by people with Down syndrome and autism
I would like to open a café in Japan run by people with Down syndrome and autistic spectrum disorder that I met in Paris! When I discussed this dream with Fumio Yonezawa, a chef who currently serves on the board of Purple Heart Projects and has a younger brother with Down syndrome, he told me that it was still difficult to be accepted in Japan at present.
This led to the project EAT SWEAT HAPPY, which aims to deepen understanding of people with disabilities through food and sport. The idea was that their hard work and their forward movement would inspire people and lead to their understanding.
